Neil Green, MD is the creator and director of the Scottsdale Echocardiography Simulation Training Laboratory. Dr. Green received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry from the University of California at Los Angeles where he graduated with departmental honors. He attended medical school at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine where he graduated with honors and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA). Following medical school he completed his internship and residency in anesthesiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine.
Dr. Green is board-certified in anesthesiology. In 2009, he completed the Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Exam (PTEeXAM) administered by the National Board of Echocardiography. In 2010 Dr. Green was the first participant to be admitted to the newly created University of California at Los Angeles Advanced Specialty Training Fellowship in Transesophageal Echocardiography. In 2011, he completed the National Board of Echocardiography Adult Special Competence Exam (ASCeXAM). He was then elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE) in 2017 for his contributions in teaching echocardiography through a novel simulation based training facility. He completed both the Repeat Advanced PTEeXAM in 2020 and the Repeat ASCeXAM in 2021. He is currently retired and teaches full time in the Echosim Lab in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Dr. Green has trained a remarkably diverse group of attendees over the last decade. He has instructed physicians and sonographers from Africa, Canada, Columbia, Egypt, England, and Saudi Arabia. Attendees have included graduates and fellows from College University London, Emory, Massachusetts General, and UCLA . Since the Labs inception in 2015 Dr. Green has privately instructed over 100 medical device representatives from Philips, Siemens, Boston Scientific, Baylis Medical, Visura Technologies, and Conformal Medical. He has trained several Organ Harvest Teams in TEE including those from the multistate regions centered in Louisiana and Colorado. Dr. Green has instructed Advanced Cardiac Sonographers (ACS) to assist with TEE for intervention at several hospitals in both Alabama and Florida. Dr. Green's attendees have achieved a 95%+ pass rate on the Basic PTEeXAM, Advanced PTEexam, ASCeXAM, and CCEeXAM by combining early attendance with vigorous independent self study. Dr. Green has successfully nominated a handful of applicants for Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE). The Lab has enjoyed numerous referrals from our prior private, academic, and commercial attendees. He is most proud to have received referrals from both Thomas Binder MD at 123Songography.com in Vienna and Tommy Birch at PTEmasters.com, both among the most beloved and superlative echocardiography instructors. Dr. Birch generously has maintained a link to the Echosim Lab (echosim.com) on his website ptemasters.com for nearly a decade, a website visited by essentially every applicant for the NBE Basic and Advanced PTE Exams.
